Our Principles

Our principles – sustainability at OQ Chemicals

For OQ Chemicals, sustainability means taking responsibility for the social, ecological and economic impact of our business activities. This means that sustainability is the basis for meeting the expectations of our stakeholder groups and safeguarding the long-term success of our company. It is of vital importance for us to meet this responsibility.

“We are as committed as ever to constantly improving our sustainability performance. We operate in an economic environment in which sustainability and, above all, climate protection are increasingly important. We see this as both a challenge and an opportunity to further evolve as a company. The way we act today is crucial for determining long-term prospects.”

Dr. Oliver Borgmeier, CEO OQ Chemicals

Corporate responsibility

For OQ Chemicals, the key to lasting success is maintaining a constant dialog with the company’s various stakeholders. Having a transparent and consistent flow of information is central to any working relationship based on mutual trust.

It goes without saying that OQ Chemicals complies with legal requirements. We use various tools and frameworks for managing and assessing our sustainability work.

You can find an overview of our sustainability (CSR) activities and certifications here:

ISO 14001: Our environmental and sustainability management system meets international environmental standards. All OQ Chemicals sites are ISO 14001 certified.

ISO 50001: Through the sustainable use of energy, our energy management system helps to reduce consumption and minimize carbon emissions. We have already rolled this out successfully at our European sites in Marl, Oberhausen and Amsterdam.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): We at OQ Chemicals support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and have identified four SDGs to which we are contributing. These are: investment in training and education (SDG 4 Quality Education), safe and efficient production processes (SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production), a clear corporate structure with defined processes (SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth), CO2 reduction targets and measures for minimizing environmental impact (SDG 13 Climate Action).
