The Ruhrchemie plant is located near the city of Oberhausen, approximately 150 miles north of Frankfurt, Germany. The site was established by Kohlechemie AG in 1927 and renamed Ruhrchemie AG in 1928. It is the work place of some 1,300 employees, and covers approximately 290 acres near the Ruhr River. The plant's products include 2-Ethylhexanol, Amines, Butanol, Alcohols, Carboxylic Acids, Dioctyl Phthalate, Neopentylglycol and Valeric Aldehyde. These are used by customers in the production of many different items, including plasticizers, detergents, soaps, insecticides, solvents, lubricants, fragrances, pharmaceuticals, paints and varnishes.
