The chemical site Marl in the north of the Ruhr Valley is with 1,570 acres the third largest
chemical location of Germany and includes the largest european production site of the Degussa AG.
Most of the residentiary industrial companies followed out of the former Hüls AG, whose foundation
resulted on the May 9 1938 as chemical works Hüls GmbH.
OXEA operates two facilities for the production of butyl acetate and carboxylic acids in the
Marl Chemical Park. These products are used in high-quality coatings, flavoring agents and
fragrances, printing inks, and cosmetic and pharmaceutical products.
