Qualification: Process control electrician

The training lasts for 3.5 years, and the initial prerequisite is the qualification for admission to
technical college (the equivalent of the German "Fachoberschulreife").

The Training

Process control electricians  are electronics specialists who help maintain production
operations and ensure there are no disruptions to the production process. They work in
production facilities, control rooms, measuring stations and workshops. They carry out most
of their work independently. This work consists of expanding, modifying and commissioning
as well as inspecting, maintaining and repairing process control facilities, including
troubleshooting. During their training, process control electricians  learn all of the skills they
need for these complex tasks, and they work in the workshops and facilities for production
and engineering.
