Derivatives overview
We produce carboxylic acids, polyols, amines, specialty esters, higher aldehydes and specialty derivatives in our Oxo Derivatives segment for a wide variety of applications, including synthetic lubricants, coatings, agrochemicals and phthalate free plasticizers.

We produce the broadest product portfolio of all carboxylic acid producers operating in our markets. Our carboxylic acids are used in synthetic lubricants, safety glass, animal feed, siccatives, flavors and fragrances and polymer-stabilizers. Our main acid product is carboxylic acids (C4-C9 acids). Carboxylic acids are mainly used as raw materials for synthetic lubricants (neo-polyolesters), which are used in specialized areas like jet turbines or refrigerator compressors. The use of neo-polyolesters in these products is likely to increase rapidly in the future, boosting demand for carboxylic acids. As a result of the implementation of the Montreal protocol and the increase of HFC free systems in refrigeration, compressor systems will progressively be substituted by new systems that are lubricated with neo-polyolesters. |

Our polyols are used in high solids coatings, powder coatings, lubricants and polymer additives. We are a global leader in polyol production. Polyols have several positive effects on the end product. In coatings they improve thermal stability, flexibility, UV durability and scratch resistance. Potential substitution is limited because of polyols specific product features. Our main polyol products are NPG (neopentyl glycol) and TMP. |

Our higher aldehydes and specialty derivatives are used in building blocks for synthetic lubricants, flotation chemicals, pharmaceuticals and flavors and fragrances and as precursors for vitamins. |

Our Amines are used in a variety of agrochemicals & biocides. They find broad application in rubber processing chemicals, in lubricant additives, corrosion inhibitors, surfactants or dye intermediates and many others. Oxea is a leading manufacturer of mono-iso-propylamine (MIPA) and a well recognized supplier of higher alkylamines. |

Most of our Specialty Esters are plasticizers for a broad range of applications. They show some unique properties and can be used to replace traditional phthalate plasticizers and are all well known and well researched plasticizers currently being used in a broad variety of end-uses like automotive, construction, food and medical applications. |
